Showcase Admins use the Moderate a Catalog Item tool to review a catalog item that is in the 'Pending' state and approve it for display in the organization's catalog or not. The catalog item may be in the 'Pending' state because it was added recently and has not yet been approved for display in the catalog, or because it was recently edited by the catalog item contact, profile contact or other authorized user. To approve this catalog item, set its State to 'Approved'. To reject this catalog item, set its State to 'Rejected'.
What happens to the catalog item after you moderate it depends on several factors, including which action you took, whether an approved version of the catalog item already exists, and whether the catalog item meets all the other display criteria. For more information, see the Display Scenarios table in the Concepts document Gating Profile and Catalog Item Display.
- Accepted
-
If this is a new catalog item, it becomes eligible for display as soon as it is approved, providing the profile and catalog item are both active and are set to display publicly.
When an approved catalog item is edited by a catalog item contact or other non-administrative user, a new version is created as the edits are saved. This can be a 'Working' version or a 'Pending' version, depending on which option the user selected. Meanwhile, the old 'Approved' version remains untouched. If it was displayed in the catalog, it continues to be displayed until the new, edited version is approved. If the moderator approves the edited version, the old 'Approved' version is deleted as the new 'Approved' version takes its place in the catalog.
- Rejected
-
If the catalog item is rejected, the state is set to 'Rejected', but the catalog item is not deleted. The catalog item contact is notified and can make whatever edits were suggested by the moderator on 'Rejected' version, then save it as 'Pending' to resubmit it for moderator review.
At this point, if an 'Approved' version already existed, there are at least three versions of the catalog item being stored in Kavi Showcase: the old 'Approved' version, the newer 'Rejected' version and a new 'Pending' version.
Note
This tool is accessed through a button at the top of the Manage a Catalog Item page.
Review and take action on pending catalog items. You may approve those that are ready to be displayed in the showcase, reject those that should not be displayed and skip those that you don't wish to act upon at this time.
The catalog item is displayed for you to review. To moderate, set the State to 'Approved' or 'Rejected' and click the Moderate button. If you don't want to moderate this catalog item, use the Back button to return to the Manage a Catalog Item page.
You may opt to send or suppress Scheduled Email, but if you rejected the catalog item you probably want to send it so you can notify the Catalog Item Contact. You may add information to the body of the email explaining the reason for the rejection and instructions on what changes should be made before the item is resubmitted for moderator approval.
If you approved this catalog item, it replaces any older approved versions and will be displayed in your organization's showcase if it is eligible. If you rejected this catalog item, the 'Rejected' version is available for editing. If you opted to send an email message, it will go out now.
