Kavi® Showcase Help
Table of Contents
Kavi Showcase creates several default types and roles when installed. These types are primarily managed and assigned to users through Kavi® Members tools. This document also includes a table describing default Kavi Members types that have access to Kavi Showcase.
To see what roles and access permissions are conferred through any of the Kavi Showcase types listed here, click the link for a description of the role or consult the Kavi Showcase Default Roles documentation.
If you aren't familiar with the way in which types and roles confer access permissions, refer to the Kavi Members Concepts documentation, which discusses types and roles in depth. See Types, Type Categories, User Types and the Appendix document Kavi Members Default Types. You may also find the Concepts document on Contact Types useful, but Kavi Showcase Contact Types behave very differently, as explained in the following Contact Types section.
Important
Users who have been assigned a Kavi Showcase default type must also be assigned a type that confers the 'member' role, because the 'member' role is needed to access Kavi Showcase pages.
Kavi Showcase supports two kinds of Contact Types. It adds the default Contact TypeShowcase Company Admin, which confers the 'showcase_company_admin' role and access to Showcase Company Admin Area and tools. This type is assigned through Kavi Members. For more information, see Contact Types in Kavi Members Concepts.
The second kind of Contact Type are semantic, unprivileged contact types that are added and assigned in Kavi Showcase. These are added and managed in the Kavi Showcase Super Admin Manage Profile Contact Types tool, and assigned when adding or editing a profile. There is one default Kavi Showcase Contact Type: 'Profile Contact'. Some common examples of custom types would be 'Sales Contact', 'Technical Contact', etc.
Note
The Kavi Members default Contact Type 'Primary Contact' confers the 'company_admin' role, which grants access to Company Admin Areas and tools in many applications, but NOT to Kavi Showcase Company Admin tools. If your organization wants to give Primary Contacts access to Kavi Showcase Company Admin Areas, a Super Admin can edit the Primary Contact through the Kavi Members Manage Contact Types tool and add the 'showcase_company_admin' role.
Table A.1. Default Contact Types
| Type | Default roles | Category | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profile Contact | NA | This is a Kavi Showcase semantic Contact Type, which confers no access privileges. The Profile Contact is selected when adding or editing a company profile, and the full name and primary email of the selected user is displayed in the profile under the heading 'Primary Contact'. | |
| Showcase Company Admin | showcase_company_admin | admin |
This type can be assigned through Kavi Members tools. The role confers access to the Kavi Showcase Company Admin tools and permission to view and manage the Company Profile for the company to which this representative belongs, and any Individual Profiles that belong to users from this company. If the configuration option 'editors_edit' is enabled, a user with this type can edit these profiles. In Kavi Showcase 3.1 this type cannot be edited or deleted. |
User Types classify users by their relationship to the organization. Privileged User Types are assigned to users who hold special positions in the organization and confer roles that grant access to organization data. Kavi Showcase User Types may be assigned manually by administrators.
In Kavi Showcase 3.1 these User Types cannot be edited or deleted.
Table A.2. Default User Types
| Type | Default roles | Category | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Showcase Admin | showcase_admin | admin |
This User Type confers the 'showcase_admin' role and access to the Admin Area and permission to manage and moderate all Profiles and Catalog Items. The 'Showcase Admin' type can be assigned using Kavi Members tools. |
| Showcase Moderator |
profile_moderator catalog_moderator |
admin |
By default, this User Type confers the 'catalog_moderator' and 'profile_moderator' roles that grant access to Moderate Profiles and Moderate Catalog Items tools in the Member Area. The user must also have the 'member' role to gain access to this area. If Kavi Showcase is configured to moderate profiles and catalog items, new or edited profiles and catalog items must receive moderator approval before they are displayed in the showcase. Showcase Moderator is assigned through Kavi Members. |
These User Types and Contact Types are automatically added by Kavi Members and can be viewed and assigned to users though Kavi Members tools.
Table A.3. Kavi Members types with Kavi Showcase access
