Kavi® Showcase Help
Table of Contents
Use the Configure Public Display tool to configure page elements displayed on the Kavi Showcase landing page and set default behavior for many public area widgets. This includes the description and landing page text, image display, truncation rules for names, which widgets are displayed and set parameters for 'New' and featured profiles and catalog items.
Important
This tool does not validate HTML entered in the Description or Landing Page Text fields. To verify that the HTML you have entered is rendering properly after pressing the 'Submit' button, visit the landing page and refresh your browser. You will be able to view your changes immediately.

Set options to determine which widgets are used to display profiles and catalog items in your organization's Kavi Showcase installation.
Configure display options and text for your organization's public Showcase pages.
- Public Title
This title is displayed at the top of each page in the Kavi Showcase Public Area. It's a good idea to escape any special characters.
- Description
A plain text or HTML description displayed at the top of each page in the Public Area.
- Landing Page Text
Plain text or HTML displayed at the top of the public landing page.
- List Style
-
Set the way that lists of profiles and catalog items are displayed:
- With images
Display the image in the list along with the textual content.
- Data only
Only display textual content in the list, NOT the image.
- Default Truncation
This option sets the maximum length of profile and category names in characters. Names longer than this will be automatically truncated to comply with the specified maximum.
- Mark As New
-
This option sets the amount of time during which profiles and catalog items are flagged as 'New' when displayed. Select the desired time unit in the pulldown list (i.e., 'Days', 'Months' or 'Years'), then set the number of units. The default is 30 days.
This option works in tandem with options available in the following Profiles and Catalog Items sections. If 'Show Newest Profiles' is disabled, new profiles won't display the 'New' flag. If 'Show Newest Catalog Items' is disabled, new catalog items won't be flagged. If both of these options are disabled, the new flag won't be displayed at all so this field will be ignored.
Set which available profile widgets are displayed.
- Show Profile Information
-
Profiles are always displayed in Kavi Showcase, but the organization can decide whether to display detailed information or not. If the public landing page relies entirely on custom widgets for profile access, all profile display options may be disabled.
- Yes, show profiles
If this is selected, detailed profile information is displayed.
- No, hide detailed profile information
This setting disables all profile widgets on the Public Area landing page. This is used for sites where the landing page relies entirely on custom widgets for profile access.
- Show Featured Profile
- Yes
If this is selected, the Featured Profiles widget will be displayed on the Public Area landing page.
- No
If this is selected, the Featured Profiles widget will NOT be displayed on the Public Area landing page. This effectively disables profile featuring unless the site provides custom featuring capabilities.
- Show Profile Simple Search
- Yes
If this is selected, the Profiles Search widget will be displayed on the Public Area landing page.
- No
If this is selected, the Profiles Search widget will NOT be displayed on the Public Area landing page. This setting is used when custom search functionality has been implemented in place of the simple search widget.
- Show Browse Profiles
- Yes
If this is selected, the Browse Profiles widget will be displayed on the Public Area landing page.
- No
If this is selected, the Browse Profiles widget will NOT be displayed on the Public Area landing page. Browsing is similar to searching but provides a different flavor of user experience. When an organization chooses not to support both, it generally retains the search capabilities and sacrifices the browsing experience.
- Show Newest Profiles
- Yes
If this is selected, new profiles will be flagged with the 'New' flag when displayed on the Public Area landing page.
- No
If this is selected, new profiles will NOT be flagged.
Set which available catalog item widgets are displayed.
- Show Catalog Items
- Yes, show catalog items
When this is set, catalog items are displayed according to the next four configuration options.
- No, hide catalog items entirely
This setting disables all catalog item widgets on the Public Area landing page. This is used for sites where the landing page relies entirely on custom widgets for catalog item access.
- Show Featured Catalog Item
- Yes
If this is selected, the Featured Catalog Items widget will be displayed on the Public Area landing page.
- No
If this is selected, the Featured Catalog Items widget will NOT be displayed on the Public Area landing page. This effectively disables catalog item featuring unless the site provides custom featuring capabilities.
- Show Catalog Item Simple Search
- Yes
If this is selected, the Catalog Item Search widget will be displayed on the Public Area landing page.
- No
If this is selected, the Catalog Item Search widget will NOT be displayed on the Public Area landing page. This setting is used when custom search functionality has been implemented in place of the simple search widget.
- Show Browse Catalog Items
- Yes
If this is selected, the Browse Catalog Items widget will be displayed on the Public Area landing page.
- No
If this is selected, the Browse Catalog Items widget will NOT be displayed on the Public Area landing page. Browsing is similar to searching but provides a different flavor of user experience. When an organization chooses not to support both, it generally retains the search capabilities and sacrifices the browsing experience.
- Show Newest Catalog Items
- Yes
If this is selected, new profiles will be flagged with the 'New' flag when displayed on the Public Area landing page.
- No
If this is selected, new catalog items will NOT be flagged when displayed.
