Contact information for a user or company profile can originate in a Kavi Members account and be kept up to date with changes made there. Kavi Showcase can be configured to tightly link with Kavi® Members or to use Kavi Members only minimally.
Kavi Showcase profiles linked to Kavi Members accounts have these advantages:
Linked profiles can be edited online by organization members. This distributes the work of keeping information up-to-date. Independant profiles can only be updated by Showcase Admins.
Linked profiles can be automatically updated with new contact information from Kavi Members. The option to automatically update contact information can be set for each profile individually.
Linked profiles can be automatically deactivated when the linked Kavi Members account becomes inactive.
Linked profiles are deleted when their Kavi Members account is deleted, keeping the profile database clean.
When a company or user's membership expires, their access to protected online areas and mailing lists can be deactivated in Kavi Members. Kavi Showcase can be set up to automatically deactivate any profiles linked to an inactive member account. Inactive profiles and their associated catalog items are not visible to the public, regardless of their Display or State settings. Administrators can always change a profile's status independent of the linked member account's status.
Deleting a profile or catalog item is permanent and removes all related information from the database.
Back to topKavi Showcase allows Super Administrators to grant member representatives and other types of users as much or as little access to showcase data as the organization wants. This is accomplished by assigning types such as 'Showcase Company Editor' to users (which grants the user the ability to edit a company's profile) or 'Organization Administrator' (which grants the user the ability to edit all data for this organization).
In Kavi applications, roles are used to confer access, and user's are granted roles by being assigned types. This is explained in detail in the Kavi Members Concepts document Roles.
Kavi Showcase creates several default types and roles when installed. Certain roles are automatically associated with the default Kavi Showcase types, as well as the Kavi Members 'Organization Administrator' user type.
