Super Admins use the Add Catalog Item Category tool to add new categories for catalog items. These categories are used to classify catalog items and determine how they are presented or retrieved when visitors search and browse the organization's showcase. Administrators can also use categories when searching for catalog items through management tools.
Flat or hierarchical categories
Categories can have a flat structure so that all categories are at the same level, or may be nested so that a category may have subcategories. Most organizations use a flat category structure.
If your organization uses hierarchical categories, each category may have one or many subcategories. When subcategories are displayed to application users and showcase visitors, the tree structure is displayed to so the viewer can see where the category is within the hierarchy.
This is configured by setting the 'catalog item_flat_categories' option in Configure Kavi Showcase.
Back to topAdd the name and description for your new category. When you are satisfied with your settings, click Add to save your new category.
If catalog item categories are hierarchical, you set the catalog item's place in the hierarchy on the Manage Catalog Items page. The Catalog Hierarchy field displays the new category's place in the tree.
You have just added a new category and it is now available in all Kavi Showcase catalog item management tools.
