Kavi® Showcase Help
Table of Contents
Administrators use this tool to add a new Catalog Item to Kavi Showcase. Every Catalog Item must be associated with a Profile and can be assigned to one or more categories. You must also designate a Catalog Item Contact, and the set of available contacts depends on the profile you select. For example, if you select a Company Profile, a list of all that company's Kavi Showcase contacts is displayed and you can select anyone on that list. If you select an Individual Profile, only the profile owner is displayed. Enter a description, image, keywords and other data. You may also opt to upload a file. When you are done setting details, you will have the opportunity to see a preview of how the Catalog Item will look when it is displayed in your showcase.
Depending on configuration, profile state and the state you set for this Catalog Item, it may become available in your showcase immediately, or it may remain hidden. A Catalog Item may be added for a Profile that isn't eligible for display, but Catalog Items are only eligible for display if their associated Profile is eligible.
Back to topThe Catalog Item name and all other information is required.
- Name
Enter the name of the catalog item exactly as you want it to be displayed in the catalog.
- Profile
Select the profile to which this catalog item belongs. Each catalog item must be associated with a profile.
- Categories
Assign an appropriate category to this catalog item. The catalog item appears under this category heading when displayed. Depending on configuration, you may be able to assign multiple categories. All categories are custom to your organization, added by a 'Showcase Super Admin' through the Manage Catalog Item Categories tool.
After selecting the Profile to which the new Catalog Item belongs, enter the information for this Catalog Item.
- Contact
Select a contact from the list of available contact people. When a catalog item is displayed, the contact's full name and title is displayed along with link that allows visitors to contact them by email. Your organization may also allow catalog item contacts to edit catalog items to which they are assigned.
- URL
The URL displayed as a link the visitor can click for more information about this catalog item.
- Image/Logo
Browse or enter a URL for the image or logo to be displayed for this catalog item.
- Description
The Description allows you to enter either plain text or HTML. Line breaks in a plain text description are translated to HTML breaks when the description is displayed, so you can enter simple paragraphs and lists without using HTML. When using HTML, some browsers insert more space than may be desired into your description. To test whether the description needs revision, view through a different browser. To conserve space when the description is displayed, remove as many line breaks as possible.
- File
Upload a file for this catalog item. Visitors are more likely to download a file that has a meaningful filename and includes a filetype extension such as Brochure.pdf (rather than catitem_021502_draft).
- Keywords
Enter words and phrases that will help showcase visitors find this catalog item. Keywords are hidden from the public and should supplement the information in the Description. To learn more about how keywords are used in searching and browsing, see Searching and Browsing..
- Display Publicly
-
Should this Catalog Item be Displayed Publicly? Set this option to 'Yes' if it should be displayed publicly or 'No' if it should remain visible to administrators, profile owners and catalog item contacts only.
Note
If this is set to 'No', the catalog item will not be displayed to visitors searching or browsing the catalog.
- State
If catalog item moderation is enabled, you can set the catalog item state. Catalog items in states other than 'Approved' aren't eligible for display.
- Activity Note
Add a note to this catalog item's Activity History. This note will be visible to administrators only, and can be viewed using the Catalog Item Activity History tool.
The Catalog Item is displayed exactly as it will appear in your showcase. The preview does not display administrative or hidden fields, such as workflow state or keywords.
